ANNOUNCING THE EXPANSION OF FIRST 5 SACRAMENTO’S
“TARGETING SUCCESS” CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT
A Cooperative Project of First 5 Sacramento and the Nonprofit Resource Center
For Current First 5 Contractors and 501(c)3 Organizations Planning to Apply for First 5 Funding
In today’s economy, nonprofit organizations must focus on their agency’s most critical elements for success. However, with the rush of everyday demands, it is often easy for those critical elements to get put on the back burner.
To assist and support agencies address this challenge, First 5 Sacramento has partnered with the Nonprofit Resource Center to offer the “Targeting Success” Capacity Building Project (CBP). Using a three-pronged approach of organizational needs assessment, strategic action planning and implementation assistance, the CBP offers organizations an opportunity to improve their effectiveness, sustainability and long-term viability. First 5 Sacramento’s CBP builds on a similar project that was developed, fine-tuned and successful during an eight-year period with over 40 participating nonprofit organizations.
The CBP project is funded by First 5 Sacramento and managed by the Nonprofit Resource Center (the Center) and will operate through June 30, 2010. Participating organizations will receive consulting, training and technical expertise and support rather than direct funding. Participating in the CBP will help you challenges such as:
-
Do you need to assess your organization’s needs or strategic leverage points?
-
Do you need a strategic plan? Or do you need to update the plan you have?
-
Do you need a strategic communications plan?
-
Do you need to address strategic administrative issues?
-
Do you need to develop volunteer and staff leadership for the future?
-
Do you need to develop a fund development plan?
Do you need assistance with board recruitment or training?
Who Can Apply?
Organizations currently serving as contractors and subcontractors currently funded by First 5 Sacramento are eligible to apply to participate in the CBP. In addition, nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 status that are planning to apply for funding from First 5 Sacramento are also eligible to apply to be part of the CBP.
